Unlike Spain, Germany, Russia and many other countries, there were no French versions of the two Winnie the Pooh books. Hard to believe, but true.
There used to be a French version of WTP, but that was a long time ago and had gone out of print.
I wrote about it all here ...... winnie-lourson-the-dreadful-truth.html
This is THAPC in French .. This is "new" Winnie stories.
It ranges from the theory that WTP is all about God, because Christopher Robin is almost an anagram of " Christ Reborn" to the preposterous suggestion that WTP is merely a pastoral story about various animals.
That now famous book ( The Pooh Perplex) opened my eyes to all sorts of aspects of the stories, with remarkably diverse viewpoints.
I first read it at the tender age of 14, having borrowed it from Widnes Library.
Yes, Widnes, one of the major dumps in the UK, where I unfortunately endured my teenage years, actually has a library. I'm surprised, because the atmosphere is so full of fumes and dust etc, I'm surprised anybody can read anything.
But .... oddly .. it seems not to be available in French either.
Which ...frankly ... is a disgrace.
Something needs to be done to rectify this oversight.
as is Usually Believed, But for Proper Elucidation Requires the Combined Efforts of Several Academicians of Various Critical Persuasions.
