Here's a very helpful lecture about why kids don't like school. Whether she has any ideas about changing the situation, you'll have to see for yourselves........... Personally, I don't remember any teachers like her during my schooldays ..quite the reverse ... and as for the music, I could only find one decent song about " les ballots" but no live performances .... and lots of hay-bales ! ... .but, on the plus side, there's more of Bourvil in the pipeline. ..... he's a legend in his own lunchtime .... !
Here's another silly collection of funny song-and-action- sort-of-things ... .... to cheer us all up despite the current atmosphere of despair .... ...... here's Yelle with more power-pop silliness ... ...and another happy, frivolous and totally silly song and dance thing.... Another rather funny and touching (in both senses of the word) ancient song and dance ....... and yes, the French were sometimes frivolous even in the distant past ! So ..songs, silliness, slapstick, somersaults, snogging ... ... and all of it Terrific For your French ! ... which is, of kourse, key . Just for the fun of it, let's have another ancient and silly one... Not only must you listen attentively to the commentary, there's loads of shop signs, notices, postcards etc to take in as well ... all Terrific For Your French . But now, the music .... and a very young Bertrand Cantat .. I've only got two books of French ghost stories ...Masterton's "Apparition" ... a translation from English ... and Maupassant's collection "Contes du Surnaturel" which I can't find a picture of, so I've just used that " Le Horla" book as an example. They're both very good, and there's loads more of them.... ... and there's a whole load of " Halloween" ghost books for kids. .. it was hard to find any songs about ghosts, so this was all I could get....... Plus, two plays I've read recently had a ghost as one of the characters .....
" La machine infernal" and " Intermezzo" .... Well well ..there are indeed " books" about the "play" ..... the idea being, students don't need to read or watch the play, they can just read "about" it . How convenient...... I know you all enjoyed the various " versions" of Ionesco's " La Leçon" a mere 4 posts back ( #840) ... and here's an excellent 9½-minute-long version.... and both participants are adults this time... and apparently "done" in a classroom with a very appreciative audience.... and I'm assuming they are their teachers. Interesting !? ............ and much much better than reading a book about it ..... .. now, a happy sort of song to counteract the rather "combative"nature of the play !
.... I put a few "uplifting" cheerful, wacky songs on here a few posts ago to lift us , if only for a few minutes, out of this lockdown limbo ... and here's a few more ... Blimey .. La Leçon de Twist ! It's very noticeable that most of these "happy" songs seem to involve a lot of prancing about ! I wonder why (?!) ... and here's the link to the previous selection ..
830-french-songs-to-cheer-you-up.html Any suggestions for the next collection ? If so, why not bung them on here in the "comment" section below ...and I'll do the rest. Augerville, 19 Octobre ... While you think about that little snapshot of an evening ..... .. who wrote it ... and how long ago .... ? ........here's a ( relevant) song ... ... and here's the sing-along version ... Well ...famous French author Eugène Delacroix wrote that in his journal on this very day, 19th October, but way back in 1856. He's not unlike that there Nicola Sirkis ......... minus the moustache ... I looked up that lunar eclipse .... and there was one on October 13th 1856 !
I'm an inquisitive old Hector ! I've "acquired" a Simenon/Maigret book .... " L'Affaire Saint-Fiacre" .... It's one of those " Textes en français facile" jobs. It's not that one up there ... I couldn't find a picture of "my" version. And I haven't yet worked out how to get my rubbish new camera to "do" close-ups. Age des lecteurs A partir de 12 ans. (C'est moi en somme !) Nombre de mots Environ 3500 (merde ! ) In the back, we get a handy " mots difficiles" section .... (I could have showed you all of them, but I still can't get my camera to "do" close- ups)... ( or even near-ups)... BUT .... what I want to know is ... ..... if I had the "grown-up" version, what differences would I find ? ..... well, readers, I'm going to get it ... and then we'll see ! ... and here's another thought .. .. all my French Harry Potter books are from "Folio Junior". ... so ..are they " watered-down" with simpler French for young people... ? ... and are there " grown-up" versions of a "tougher" nature ? ... perhaps some of you might know. Well, on that note, we'll have some "relevant" music ... We all like an "absurdist" spot of theatre, do we not ? There's various "versions" of La Leçon" available ... Some lasting an hour or so .... ... and some lasting 3½ minutes ... ( see version #3 .... below) ... ... so ...let's have a bit of " The Theatre of the Absurd" .... Ciel! ........ une autre tentative ! ..and this is a sort of " compressed" version of it ... right down to an eventful 3½ minutes ! But you don't get the last bit where things go even wonkier than ever .... Well, I hope that has been Terrific For Your French ... .... and I bet there's been whole books written about it .. ..... and PhD theses ... .... I wonder if there's been versions where it's a boy pupil and a female teacher (?). .......... I think it might well have finished very differently .... ....... that's my idea by the way .... © .... And now, the music .... ..... En Route pour la Joie !! [ Unlike her] |
