...... and .... crammed full of the usual Posy Simmonds' style and humour.
So ..if you like that sort of thing, er, get it.
But meanwhile, the music ..... ROSE ... Qui peut dire
Here's a smashing book .... a sort of BD but in monochrome .... but that doesn't matter ........ and, of course, it is in "Your actual French " ...... and 100+ action-packed pages ...some of them rather, er, rude ! ...... and .... crammed full of the usual Posy Simmonds' style and humour. So ..if you like that sort of thing, er, get it. But meanwhile, the music ..... ROSE ... Qui peut dire

... I think she thinks we're the "beginners" ..... "us lot" ..... ......... she might be right ! ..and now, the music ....... Apparently some French songs aren't the absolute apex ... and here's someone who knows which ones ...... Well folks ... a few posts back we had the "best" French songs .... and now I've "sourced" ( sauced ?) what seems to be regarded as the worst ones . That should be entertaining at least... and there's only four of them (??) Ever wonder what is the worst French song ever? We all know some bad English songs (not to say horrible ones) but have you ever listened to bad French music? This is what I will try to figure out in this video, so stay tuned to know which song deserves the title of Worst French Song.... Here's the candidates ... Dingue De toi – Sofiane - L M le Q - Patrick Sébastien Le Poussin Piou Papillon de Lumière - Cindy Sander Here's one "expert" with his critique of Dingue De toi – Nabilla - ..and here's the actual song ... enjoy ! and now, "Le Poussin Piou" ..don't worry, there's only one more to come .. .. and here's Cindy Sander "performing" " Papillon de lumière ..... So now you have some idea of the depths that French music can sink too.... though I'm sure that there's some much duffer-stuff than those.
Oh yes ! Now you've studied "Merde" thoroughly there's a test with five short passages to translate ....we'll just have a look at the first one for now ...... So ... I hope you worked that out OK. And now, a fine song from Kate and Anna McGarrigle .....
Some people love them, and some say they're rubbish. But do they reflect your French proficiency ? Do females tend to read the female stories? And do men tend to read the male stories ? Could a psychologist make any conclusions as to your personality ... based on the stories you liked best ? And here's another thing ... Do they all have the same reading age? And if so, what are they ? And here's yet another thing .... going by the back covers of some of my male and female ones , there are rather more male-based books . Based on in-depth research, there are 48 male ones ..... ... but only 40 female ones. M. GENIAL is #48 ... but MME TERREUR is only #40 BUT ... what about the music ? I couldn't find anything relevant, so I chose something with some sunshine in it .... I'm pretty sure that you'll have these two excellent books on your shelves ... .....but just in case some of you haven't ........ there they are ... . And there's also the " combined volume" .... There's lots of rude stuff in it. And the German version ( Scheisse !) is much ruder ! So ... time for some appropriate music ...... ... but the obvious question is .... since the appearance of the two MERDE books, has
anything newer and better arrived ? The Best Songs 1-5 are a few posts back ..... #931 If you have a look there you'll see whose chosen them. It certainly wasn't me ! Here we go with 6th to 10th. BUT ... I can't find the 8th one on youtube. It can't be that popular ! #6 INDILA Tourne dans le vide #7 Black M Sur ma route [#8] Can't find it anywhere on youtube ! [#9] Papaoutai ( I preferred this version) #10 .... KEEN'V What !!! No Noir Désir, no Indochine, no Dolly, no Yelle, no Diam's, no Saez, no Couer de Pirate, no La Grande Sophie .....
In the previous post I introduced you to a remarkable "casebook" all about the real meaning of the stories in Winnie the Pooh. It was called " The Pooh Perplex". But the author, F.C.Crews, waited 40 years before writing a set of new essays about the "real" meanings of the Pooh stories ..the resulting book was called Postmodern Pooh. â  ê Ê É È î Î ô Ô û Û Ŵ ŵ Ŷ ŷ ç í á à â ä œ ç é è ê ë ç í ì î ï ó ò ô ö ù ø ú Ú û ü û Ï Ç ß Ü Ä Ë Ï Öñÿ•‡¡÷°¼½¾œ ƶ π But what has that got to do with French ? Well, the writers of the various " What are the Pooh stories "REALLY" about" chapters sprinkle their work with bits of French to make people think they are "intellectuals". And German as well, by the way. If you nip back to the previous post you'll see what I mean .. So ..here we go with a whole panoply of "sticking bits of French into your writing to make you look clever" ..... [a] You find sometimes that a thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different ( différent/différant) . [b] Critics are thereby freed to practice what Hartman calls " Derridadaism" , a "methodical craziness " or vertiginous glissement of language towards an uncontrollable echoing. [c] He has become body as body ... for, in Descartes's words, " le Corps n'est autre chose qu'une statue ou machine de Terre." [d] Ominously, "Indians in two's and threes" begin clustering on the banks. But is he worried ? Not a bit of it. Why, with English "sang-froid" he will simply wave his hand. [e] Accordingly, Dribble adopted his favourite screen name , BigGloria3, as his scholarly nom de plume. [f] Nevertheless, in an exquisitely chic, big-profile, "bien-pensant" academic forum such as the present one... [g] You will recall that it was mumbled, amid deafening and blinding son et lumière distractions. [h] ..the nostalgie de la boue was palpable. Pretentious balivernes or what ? There's no doubt that there might be more of those for you to find. No doubt they occur in other fancy-pants " literary commentary". Anyway, 'tis music time now ...... I've thought of a brilliant/silly idea based on all this " casebook" business.
It'll take a while to do it though. |
