Well, you could go into settings and get the French keyboard ..... but that can be a bit of a pain.
Mostly I tend to use ALT codes... these are numbers ( from the number pad on the rhs of the keyboard) which you type while holding down the ALT key ... which is to the left of the spacebar.You will need to have the number lock on.
On most PCs it's the 4-digit ALT codes you need ... I've put the code for lower-case first then/upper-case code. .....here we go .....
é = alt 0233/0201 è = alt 0232/0200 ê = alt 0234/0202 ë = alt0235/0203
à = alt 0224/0192 â = alt 0226/0194
î = alt 0238/0206 ï = 0239/0207
ó = alt 0243/0211
û = 0251/0219 ü = 0252/0220
ç = alt 0231/ 0199
There are loads of other symbols you can get in this way..... it's fun to explore, or you can cheat and get the whole lot from the net. For example, œ is alt 0156 , and alt 0133 is … ( three dots)
Here they all are ... you could just copy and paste this row of characters onto any documnet you are writing and copy/paste the ones you need as you go along...
